Francisco Is In Need Of A New Washer And Dryer – 35

My name is Francisco Lopez and I am 47 years old and unemployed because of job layoffs and companies cutting back on employees. I currently live with and take care of my Father who is 85 years old he is still very active but he suffers from Heart Arrythmia and Arthritis. We currently live in Redwood City, California (San Francisco Bay Area) in a house that we have had for over 40 years. Something unfortunate happened our current Clothes Washer and Dryer broke-down and are completely unusable as a result we do not have any way of doing any Laundry we have tried hand-washing but that did not help at all. We are in desperate need for a new Clothes Washer and Dryer, we are asking for a cash Donation totaling $1200.00 or a Donation of a new Clothes Washer and Dryer for our house in Redwood City. The people that will benefit the most will be me and my Father because we will be able to have fresh clean clothes again. All the money and/or donations raised will be used to purchase a new Clothes Washer and Dryer. The time-table preferably would be six to eight months but my Father and I can wait as long as it takes. The help and support will mean a lot to us especially with fresh clean clothes especially for job-interviews and/or job opportunities. We will be extremely grateful to everybody that helps us and donates to our important cause.

I would like to say thank you in advance and God Bless You.

Francisco Is In Need Of A New Car To Get A Job – 38

My name is Francisco Lopez and I am 47 years old and unemployed and/or out of work because I was laid-off from my last job because the company that I use to work for began cutting back on the work-force and I was one of the unlucky ones. I currently live in Redwood City, California with my Father who is 85 years old and I take of him, he is still very active for his age but he suffers from a Heart Arrythmia and Arthritis. My Father has to see and/or visit his Medical Doctor for treatment of his Heart Arrythmia and Arthritis but at the moment I cannot take him to his Doctor’s appointments and/or visits because we do not have a current running car and/or automobile to use for the needed transportation. I also need a new running car and/or automobile so I am able to go and look for a new job and/or steady employment so I can start and/or begin bringing financial support to our home. My Father and I live in a house in Redwood City that we have lived in for over 40 years but with all the bills and financial obligations that we have it is very hard to save money and/or funding for a new running car and/or automobile we desperately need help with this problem and/or dilemma. The people that will benefit the most with a new running car and/or automobile will be both my Father so he can start going to all his important Doctor’s appointments and visits and myself because I can start looking for a new job and steady employment. All the funds of $21,000.00 will be used to purchase a new running car and/or automobile as well as the taxes and fees that are of the purchase. I do not currently have a formal timetable but would prefer the help and the donation of the funds within 6 to 8 months but I am willing and able to wait patiently for as long as it takes. The help and support of the donations and funding will mean that we can become more independent, reliable and have more responsibilities in regards to having our own transportation. My Father and I will be very grateful as well as very thankful for all the help, financial support and donations that we obtain and receive for this desperately needed help.

I would like to say thank you in advance and God Bless You.

The United States and the World Cup 2014 – could it finally happen

As the first round of the World Cup 2014 Soccer Tournament is almost coming to a close to make way and get ready for the “Knockout Round,” because I am a big fan of College Basketball and the NCAA Tournament, I personally prefer to call it the “Sweet Sixteen” of the World Cup 2014. Several teams have really surprised me and shown they can play the game very well and deserve to be where they are right now, the first team would be Mexico (aka: El Tri) as they call them are playing with a lot of force, strength and they are young players so the future of mens soccer in Mexico is looking very promising, I saw Mexico beat Croatia 3 to 1 and they were moving and passing the ball very well and played together as a team working hard to capture their goal which is win the World Cup what every soccer fan especially young soccer fans cheer for. The second team would be Brazil, I do not need to say anymore they are the hosting country and the home team so “home cooking” is of the essence some of their games might not finish with high scores but they are headed to the second round so it really does not matter. Finally, my third team is the United States, this World Cup 2014 I am totally with the play, talent and attitude that not only the players and coaches on Team USA have but also the fans of the United States which include myself they have come with the attitude that we are not going to be made fun off in regards to the United States Mens Soccer Program anymore we will show the world that Team USA has the talent and ability to win soccers most illustrious trophy the World Cup and I hope they do. I will be honest I had Spain winning the World Cup again but they have been eliminated even though I am disappointed I feel they did play very well and played with their heart for their country and people that is what the World Cup 2014 is all about playing your best and representing your country and your fellow citizens.

The Catholic Church needs to reach out to young people

I was recently reading a past issue of Catholic San Francisco and I saw and noticed some great photographs and articles in there with wonderful volunteers and church members. The one thing that I noticed about the Catholic Church as well as the Catholic Faith is that the majority of the church membership is senior citizens and older adults, not a lot of youth, children or young adults which in my opinion is very bad for the Catholic Church in the present as well as in the future because if future generations do not come and join the church and discover the word of God the Catholic Church and the Catholic Faith might get neglected, abandoned and stop existing because of low membership and patronage and that would be a real travesty. What the Catholic Church needs to start doing is to open its doors, start brand new programs that will attract not only young adults but youth and children as well so that the Catholic Church and the Catholic Faith can get re-invigorated with new generations of church goers and/or parishioners to keep the word of God strong in the world. The Catholic Church needs to reach out to young adults, youth and children if it wants the Catholic Faith to continue to live and survive now and for future generations to come.

My Hometown Summer Memories in Redwood City 1

As the Summer season is upon us with everything it has to offer including the wonderfully hot sun, the trips to the beach to surf and play in the water, the picnics with hot dogs, hamburgers, potato salad and of course the cold beverage that accompanies it, the children playing with the water just to stay cool and the Fourth of July Parade and Celebration that of course come with those fantastic Fireworks. This got me thinking about all the wonderful summer vacations that I spent in my hometown of Redwood City, California when I was a young boy some of these memories are priceless and will live in my mind eternally. I remember that on a typical summer day well at least during the week, I would wake up and get ready to go to a Summer youth program hosted and sponsored by a local church called “Church of Christ” which is now called “Redwood Church” on Madison Avenue. The activities included a morning sing along and a baseball game using a whiffle ball or plastic baseball, then their would be probably some activity like arts and crafts or sometimes we would walk to the park and go swimming that was really fun even though I went swimming everyday in the summer at the Sid Herkner Pool because it was free remember this is 1976 or 1977 and Redwood City was still growing as a city. The weekends were also fun for me because I remember every Saturday I would go with my favorite aunt to go grocery shopping for the week it was quite an interesting experience we would go to four different supermarkets including Continental Market which was located on Roosevelt Avenue, QFI which was located on Broadway Street, Canned Food which is now Grocery Outlet on Broadway Street and the last stop was La Azteca Market located on Chestnut Street near McDonald’s, I did this shopping trip with my aunt so many times that if she ever got sick and if then I would have been able to drive a car I would have been able to do the shopping trip by myself but thankfully that did not happen because it was always fun to go grocery shopping with her. Another great part of my Summer memories in Redwood City would always be the Fourth of July Parade in Downtown Redwood City with the floats, marching bands, clowns, carnival rides, festival and of course to cap off the night with those beautifully famous fireworks and the small fireworks that you were able to light up in front of your home before they passed the law that prohibits fireworks near homes because of the fear of forest fires and fires in general, in my opinion to this day the Fourth of July is the greatest holiday celebrated here in Redwood City by really great people. As the summer starts to wrap up by the middle of August, the football season is just around the corner and if you use to live in Redwood City you know that the San Francisco 49ers would open their Training Camp and Facility near Red Morton Park again this was many years ago but I remember getting many autographs including O.J. Simpson, “Hacksaw” Reynolds, Joe Montana, Dwight Clark, Fred Dean and coach Bill Walsh, The 49ers were and always will be the pride of Redwood City the five time Super Bowl Champions made their mark here no matter what time of the season it was. Redwood City is my hometown and I am happy to spend all those Summer vacations, all those wonderful memories and I would not ever change a thing.

The Danger of Gun Control and Violence in the United States is a real problem!

Some time ago there was a tragic incident on the college campus of Santa Monica Community College and/or Santa Monica Junior College, Santa Monica, California on June 7, 2013 in which a gunman was shooting cars and buses before he headed to the Southern California educational institution and began shooting at several students in the library before Police and local authorities fatally shot him this after he shot both his father and brother at their house while setting it on fire.  There is also the April 19, 2013 incident on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where the two “Boston Marathon Bombers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev shot multiple times and killed Campus Police Officer, Sean Collier who was responding to the incident he was only 26 years old. What about the December 14, 2012 shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut where gunman, Adam Lanza shot and killed 27 innocent victims many of them young innocent children until he shot and took his own life.  I can go on giving you more incidents and tragedies that have taken place in the United States but I think you get my point.  The problem is not with guns and/or weapons specifically it is with the people that carry the guns and/or weapons and intend to use it for harm and dangerous acts for whatever unknown reason or unknown message that they want to spread by hurting and killing innocent people to get the negative attention that they feed on.  The way we as a society can help with the danger of Gun control and weapons control in general is to give Law-abiding citizens a gun to help protect and defend themselves and maybe others against a dangerous person or a terrorist that they might be encountering because at this moment the bad people have all the guns and weapons that if used improperly can hurt and kill more innocent victims, we need some good people to carry a gun and/or weapon to stop terrorist and dangerous criminal acts as well as to prevent the unnecessary injury and death of more innocent victims.  I strongly and firmly believe that the United States as a country needs to look at this problem very seriously or tragedies and incidents will just keep continuing.
