Some time ago there was a tragic incident on the college campus of Santa Monica Community College and/or Santa Monica Junior College, Santa Monica, California on June 7, 2013 in which a gunman was shooting cars and buses before he headed to the Southern California educational institution and began shooting at several students in the library before Police and local authorities fatally shot him this after he shot both his father and brother at their house while setting it on fire. There is also the April 19, 2013 incident on the campus of Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where the two “Boston Marathon Bombers, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev and Tamerlan Tsarnaev shot multiple times and killed Campus Police Officer, Sean Collier who was responding to the incident he was only 26 years old. What about the December 14, 2012 shooting tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut where gunman, Adam Lanza shot and killed 27 innocent victims many of them young innocent children until he shot and took his own life. I can go on giving you more incidents and tragedies that have taken place in the United States but I think you get my point. The problem is not with guns and/or weapons specifically it is with the people that carry the guns and/or weapons and intend to use it for harm and dangerous acts for whatever unknown reason or unknown message that they want to spread by hurting and killing innocent people to get the negative attention that they feed on. The way we as a society can help with the danger of Gun control and weapons control in general is to give Law-abiding citizens a gun to help protect and defend themselves and maybe others against a dangerous person or a terrorist that they might be encountering because at this moment the bad people have all the guns and weapons that if used improperly can hurt and kill more innocent victims, we need some good people to carry a gun and/or weapon to stop terrorist and dangerous criminal acts as well as to prevent the unnecessary injury and death of more innocent victims. I strongly and firmly believe that the United States as a country needs to look at this problem very seriously or tragedies and incidents will just keep continuing.
The war in Iraq is officially over and all the United States military, soldiers and troops are coming home, I would like to say thank you to them for all their hard work and sacrifice fighting for our country that is the good news. Now the bad news, how long will the peace and quiet last in Iraq and the Middle East in general without the American soldiers being there to keep the peace and not to add salt to the wound but I believe the war in Afghanistan is basically the same problem. My question is why does the United States have to get involved in other countries to help keep the peace, is it possible that the other countries can get along without any problem or the U.S. being there. My point is the recent war in Iraq and the war in Afghanistan is mainly between two group(s) that have different religious customs and beliefs and they do not accept one another at all which leads to conflict and war ultimately. I personally believe that we should accept and respect each others beliefs and ideas (religious and other things) and just live in peace. Now if that does not work, I say we start using a strong session of Mediation and/or Conflict Resolution if it works here in the United States then I say we formally introduce it to the world anything that will help keep the United States troops, soldiers and military home is worth investigating not only for the United States sake but for the worlds sake as well. This upcoming new year, I think we should all start using our hearts in addition to our heads.
The 2011 Baseball season is vastly approaching one month already which is wonderful because it is our National pastime and something that the economic crisis cannot bring down or destroy. Although, I am really bothered with the Baseball opening day fight(s) and attack(s) that led to the hospitalization of Bryan Stow, a loyal San Francisco Giants fan who was caught in the crossfire and at this present moment is in a Los Angeles hospital fighting for his life. What really happened before the violence escalated can only be told by two sources, Bryan Stow himself or the mindless assailants that committed this horrible act while at the same time giving Baseball a black mark in society. The reason this incident really bothers me is that young people (children and teenagers) as well as young adults like to imitate what others do be it good or in this case very bad and maybe they might be at a sporting event where they run into a fan of the opposing team and the verbal jabber begins which may lead to physical violence or worse someone having a dangerous weapon and using it leading to people getting hurt ot worse. This is just a game folks not a life and death situation or serious situation. Baseball as well as other sports are just exactly that sports which are suppose to be fun activities and not to be taken so seriously. One of the issue(s) is that some adults and/or grown-ups are more immature than young people in regards to the love of the game and their team, I for one am a San Francisco Giants fan but I am not going to verbally and/or physically attack someone just because they are fans of another team let us say for example the Los Angeles Dodgers. They have their preference is sports and I have mine and we need to respect each others choices and preferences. I do want to make a comment about Los Angeles Dodgers and their loyal and faithful fans, they are wonderful people that cheer and support their favorite baseball team in a very positive manner until the end, the people that committed this horrible act at Dodger Stadium are not Dodger fans according to the Los Angeles Dodgers organization “they are common thugs and violent criminals that have no place in baseball or sports in general.” Our society is turning into a violent free for all vigilante society, which means if we do not like someone and/or something we just cannot ignore it anymore and leave them and/or it alone, we must try to hurt it or them or even worse. I am sorry folks, I do not agree with that theory at all, I am very old school and I strongly believe “Live and let live” respecting each others thoughts, lifestyles, opinions, values, and ideas whatever they might be. I hope as you read this, you will try to make this world a better and more peaceful place in everything you do and everyplace you go even in the world of sports. In closing, we all need to grow up in society in regards to sports and the mental behavior of fans that some of them go a little too far this is just a game everybody and only a game nothing else.
As I was reading and watching the funeral and memorial services of some of the victims of the Arizona shootings tragedy involving Arizona Congresswoman, Gabrielle Giffords who was a victim as well as she was shot in the head. What really hit me hard about this unfortunate incident is that one of the victims was a sweet little girl who was only nine years old and had her entire life ahead, now her life is a sweet memory and a missing piece of love and happiness to her beloved family to which I pay my respects and condolences for their grief and loss. Another part that bothers me very much about this incident is that the suspected gunman was a 22 year old young man that had a reputation and the behavior of being mentally unstable, threatening and frightening to several people including several students at the community college where he attended classes, even of the college instructors that taught him said that suspected assailant would yell in class for no apparent reason. The gunman was believed to purchase his gun(s) and weapon(s) at a weapons store in Texas, where they do not check any background(s) or criminal record(s) so just about anyone can purchase a weapon in Texas without worry and then go to another state to commit your cowardless act or crime. As a nation, we need to change our gun law(s) and regulation(s) so that all 50 states of the union are on the same page in regards to gun(s) and violent act(s) or else I have a bad feeling that these kinds of tragedies are not going to stop until we make them stop.
